DIY Paper Crafting Embellishments

There is so much "stuff" in my craft room right now, to make use of a good Bible word. I'm starting to feel overwhelmed after being in here several hours a day, several days a week. Sometimes I just want that one thing that I know I saw earlier, but I can't find exactly where it is...I'm sure that never happens to you!

I was looking for some 3D flowers for a special thank you card when I came across some flowered paper that I forgot I had. And I had just used it recently for something else. That's when this particular flower out of an entire sheet of 12x12 paper caught my eye. It was the perfect size and shape for the card I had in my head!

Using a pair of Cutterbee scissors, which have a tiny, sharp point, I carefully cut around the edges of the flowers and leaves, leaving just a little of the surrounding color. Then I used double-sided tape and a Zig 2-way glue pen to tack it down. It's probably more perfect than any store-bought element I could have found. (And much cheaper!)

So the next time that you're swimming through "stuff," keep your eyes open for that little something special. It could be exactly what you needed, whether you know it or not. Just another reason to organize myself, I suppose!

This card, along with many other cards and gifts, can be found in my Etsy shop: http://www.stufffromtrees.etsy.com/.

  1. Good Morning Sister! I am not sure if you are interested, but this digital scrapbook site has everything for free for a limited time. http://www.computerscrapbook.com/ I am not quite sure what I will do with it yet, but I couldn't pass up the FREE part of it! :))
I enjoy your blog, and maybe next year we can actually meet at the Ladies Meeting. I pray you have a blessed day!

  2. Hi Jessica! I haven't done a whole lot with digital scrapbooking - something to do with my addiction to paper. Probably why I've never owned a Kindle. It's definitely something that I'll check out!

Thank you for all of your kind words! And I look forward to seeing you at Jubilee...I'll be the one wearing a nametag. =) Mark the last Saturday in April on your new 2011 calendar!

  3. I too want to FEEL the paper, but I think I will try to print some of the "paper" from the website out. I want to try decopauging it to something.
I have tried to read a book online, but it is NOT for me. :)) I'm too old fashioned I guess. There is just something nostalgic about a good cup of hot tea and a good book that I just love. I am a romantic at heart!
I will definatly add the meeting date to my calendar. I ALWAYS get a blessing from Alpine's meeting. Hope to see you there! God bless you!
