Stock Up Your Spiritual Emergency Kit

Winter weather has been an issue in southern Iowa lately, just as it has been in much of the nation. It's been so important to have extreme weather gear when we leave the house. Otherwise, a bad situation like an accident or car troubles can be disastrous in the bitter cold.

But an emergency kit isn't just for poor weather. The idea is to be prepared for any kind of accident, surprise and need. The things you place in it, for your home or your vehicle, will help you survive and stay safe no matter what emergency comes your way.

Here are just a few important items to have in your vehicle at all times in winter:
* knife
* waterproof box
* medicine
* cell phone
* change of clothes
* whistle or noisemaker
* important documents
* emergency money
* gloves
* candle/matches
* towels
* spare batteries
* multi-tool

Your own spiritual emergency kit needs to have some important items in it, too. When the circumstances of the day come upon you without warning, it's a good idea to know where to turn for guidance and encouragement. Imagine being in a difficult season of life and not having the emergency tools you need to survive. The tragic results could change your life forever.

So what do you need to stock in your spiritual emergency kit?
* wisdom (Proverbs 1:5)
* prayer (Hebrews 4:14-16)
* memorized Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:15-17)
* the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-18)
* gratitude (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
* compassion (Ephesians 4:31-32)

When you make sure your spiritual emergency kit is full stocked, you'll have the right tools for the job when you're in a difficult situation. Replenish it frequently, and keep learning which items will be the most help when you need them most.

This card table recover project has been on my to-do list for months. I've been using it as my workspace in the craft room for quite some time, and it sees a lot of abuse. Simple DIY Beaded Keychains

We're having so much fun putting together goodie bags and door prizes for our upcoming ladies retreat at the church. So many of our ladies have donated craft supplies, decorations, time and energy to treat our visitors to an amazing time. These keychains are just one of the gifts some of the attendees will find in their bags. All you need to make them are a variety of beads, some fairly thin yet sturdy cord and a jump ring. Cut a length of cord, fold it in half and string it through the jump ring. String matching beads on both sides. And tie it off with a double knot. So simple, yet so pretty. Here's another variation: Cut a length of cord, fold it in half and thread it through a jump ring. Tie one or two beads on one side and tie it off with a knot. Make the other side longer with additional letters and beads before tying it off. Make a variety of lengths, colors, patterns and phrases so no two are alike.

Debilitating Disappontment

The things of this life tend to disappoint us. People aren't who we'd like them to be, events we'd hoped for never occur and things we'd expected to happen in a certain way never come to pass.
