A Life Of Faithfulness

What's the best gift you can give back to the Lord? Your faithfulness.

I don't mean gift as in, God should feel honored that I decided to be faithful. I mean gift as in, we have been blessed more than we deserve and our faithfulness is all we have to give in return.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:23

God has been far more faithful to us than we could ever hope to be faithful to Him. He has provided everything we've ever needed and many of the desires of our hearts. He has answered when we called. He has simply been there when no one else was. The Lord has followed through on every promise ever made and our faith leads us to believe He will continue to do so throughout eternity.

And how often is our response one of doubt, laziness, stubbornness or guilt? Instead of clinging to our Heavenly Father and refusing to let go, we stray, argue, misunderstand and take others with us. All He asks is our faithfulness.

If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 2 Timothy 2:13

We may fail and come short of God's standard of faithfulness, but He will remain perfect. His presence will never leave us. His blessing will never run dry. His salvation will never come to an end. Regardless of what we do, say or think, the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us. His faithfulness will stand the test of time.

So how can we show our faithfulness to the Creator of life?

* Be faithful in our Bible reading.
* Be faithful in our prayer time.
* Be faithful in our church attendance.
* Be faithful in our fellowship with other believers.
* Be faithful in our witnessing.
* Be faithful in our daily service to God.

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:12-17
