A Week Of Following The Path Of Life

The famous poem talks about a man who came to a fork in the road and had to decide which path to travel. He chose the one less travelled, and it made all the difference in his life.

God gives us the same choice — we can follow the path that everyone else in the world takes and get nothing from it, or we can stay close to the Lord and go where He leads. One trail will lead to temporary happiness and painful consequences. The other will lead us to green pastures and still waters.

Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

None of us want to walk our path alone, so we try to fill it with fun and games and people who make us feel good about ourselves. All we really want is joy in our hearts and pleasure in our days, but we select people, places and things that will never satisfy those longings. The joy and pleasures that will truly satisfy can only be found in the presence of the Lord.

Make this a week of following the path of life. Instead of choosing the temporary pleasures that will only last while we're here on earth, let's allow God to lead us along a path that is full of eternal pleasures as well. Then we'll find exactly what we're looking for all the days of our lives — and for all eternity.
