Sunday Sketch

Here's a multi-purpose layout that will work on any size and shape of card, making it a good one to keep in your back pocket.

Find a couple of great, colorful patterns and a large image for your focal point. Matching up the colors to coordinate is essential with this sketch, as they'll be layered very closely.

You can mat those patterns for some extra color and to make the panels stand out, or you can simply layer the patterns by themselves. Try it both ways and see which you like better.

Then all you need is a nice, larger sentiment that will fill up the bottom open space of your card.

For my card, I chose a summer theme and used ice cream-themed patterns and image. I began by matting the red chevron paper on a yellow background so the contrasting color would stand out. Then I matted the ice cream paper on the same red as the chevrons and ran it down almost the entire card, leaving just a little space at the bottom.

The die cut ice cream cone is double matted on colors that make it pop out from the patterns, making it a great focal image.

My Scripture is matted on the same yellow as the background and added to the bottom so it will balance out the elements on the top and left of the card.
