Sunday Sketch

I love playing around with layers and panels on my cards, and today's sketch is a great example of a clever way to use them as background paper. Pull out three coordinating pieces of decorator paper and one or two solid colors to start with.

You'll be creating three layers, including the panels, then overlapping a large image or embellishment and a fairly long sentiment.

If you have paper sets and scraps that you want to use up, a set of cards like this will help you.
For my card, I started with a lightly patterned purple paper for the background. Then I cut a smaller piece of white card stock and matted three panels inside of it in two alternating patterns.

I layered three paper flowers and attached them with a purple metal brad, pulling the color from the very back flower.

A computer-printed sentiment is matted on the same purple paper as the background.
