Sunday Sketch

Let's use today's sketch to combine shapes and patterns in a waterfall effect. You'll finish it off with a great sentiment at the bottom.

Start with a solid color or a very light pattern as your background. Then get creative with combinations of matted patterned rectangles. Arrange them so they overlap and work their way from left to right, like they're gently falling from top to bottom.

Mat a sentiment on coordinating paper and tuck it into the bottom corner.
For my card, I decided to use an autumn theme so my falling leaves would be the cascading part of this cascade-style card.

I started with a light green pattern for my background. Then I chose three different leaf-patterned papers and matted them on three different colors of card stock. They are cut in different sizes so they will overlap and cascade down and across the card.

A metallic card stock sticker is my sentiment, and it is double matted on the same card stock as the patterned papers.
