Why Being Virtuous Is Worth It

Often, when people hear the word "virtuous," they think of some puritan person who's stuck up, stuffy and never has any fun. Being virtuous means you think you're better than them or trying to be something that you're not. It's a very sad viewpoint that often turns into ridicule and hate.

But I pray you know better than that. I hope you know God's desire for your life is to live devoted to Him and obedient to His commandments. That's virtuous living.

I'm doing my best to memorize the Proverbs 31 Woman again. I don't have the greatest memory in the world, so this is very difficult and very important to me. Knowing what God expects of his daughters gives us insight into His very heart.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10

Who can find a woman with virtues? You can search for a long time in this world and not find anyone with Godly virtues. Unfortunately, our society has become complacent in what is acceptable and normal. Now, a woman who puts God before herself, her family and her community is seen as weird and different.

In truth, a woman with Godly virtues IS different. It's difficult to find her because Godly women are scarce. It's rare to find her, but when you do, she stands out from the crowd.

And her price truly is far above rubies. She is priceless - to her husband, her children, her family, her co-workers, her church family and her entire community. Her virtues, the ones that get made fun of and ridiculed, are the same ones that make her loving, compassionate, caring and a blessing to everyone around her.

The virtuous woman has influence. She has the confidence of the Lord in her corner. She has hope and peace and joy in abundance to use as she needs them. And she has the promise of eternal rewards for her devotion.

That sounds like being virtuous is worth it, don't you?
