A Lazy Game Of Fetch

This is really and truly how Sadie and I play fetch. Yes, she's getting older and yes, she has severe hip dysplasia. But seriously, she's also really lazy.

Practically Effortless BBQ Beef Sandwiches

Image
By effortless, I mean: throw several ingredients into a bowl. Place meat in slow cooker. Pour ingredients over meat. Leave in slow cooker until the smell drives you so crazy you can't stand it anymore. This is that recipe. Ingredients: 1 boneless beef chuck roast (2-3 pounds) 1/2 cup ketchup 1/4 cup brown sugar 3 Tbsp vinegar (red wine or apple cider) 3 Tbsp Dijon mustard 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 2 Tbsp minced garlic 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper Your favorite sandwich bread or rolls 1. Turn the slow cooker on low. 2. Now...go back up and follow the instructions from the first paragraph of this post. It's literally that simple. 3. If you haven't already gone crazy after 8-9 hours on low, remove the beef and shred it with two forks. You may not even get to this step because it will literally fall apart as you pull it out of the slow cooker. 4. Serve on your favorite bread or rolls and enjoy!

A Simple Envelope Organizer

Image
Not an organizer for your envelopes, although that would be equally useful. This is an organizer made of envelopes. Completely functional, completely easy to make and completely gorgeous! You'll need: an odd number of envelopes adhesive ribbon various supplies to decorate with 1. Start with five matching envelopes. Any color or size will work, but the larger the better. They'll hold more stuff. Adhere the flap of the second envelope to the bottom of the first, with the opening facing the table. 2. Continue this for all five envelopes. If you'd like more, add more, but make it an odd number. Then use a bone folder or other straight edge to crease the folds in opposite directions. Alternate so that you make an accordion. 3. Make two slits in the very last envelope, one by the adhesive connection and one in the bottom fold of the envelope. Slide a piece of ribbon through and use it to tie the organizer closed. Now you can fill it with all those little bits you need to have wi...

Rehearsed Words

Are you one of those people that practices conversations in your mind before you have to have them for real? I have been for ages - until the Scriptures convicted me otherwise. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. Matthew 10:19-20 Jesus was speaking to His disciples about how they would be treated when they were out spreading the Gospel. He knew that they would be arrested and persecuted, and it was all in His name. Part of His instruction was to allow the Spirit of God to choose the words they would speak when those opportunities came. Then they would be focused on the ministering at hand and not on practicing drawn-out speeches. We can waste so much time and energy trying to make our words just right. Whether we're preparing for a dreaded conversation or figuring out what we should pray and say in p...

A Weekend Of No More Feeling Overwhelmed

Image
Most days that overwhelming feeling piles higher than the laundry in the basket. Soon you don't know where to start and your energy is spent anyway! And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 Make this a weekend of laying aside the things of this world - the complications, the errands, the confusion and the burdens. Instead, allow the Lord to use these two days to transform and renew your mind for the upcoming week.

Decently And In Order

Image
For though I be absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. Colossians 2:5 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him onthe altar upon the wood. Genesis 22:9 And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. Leviticus 6:12 Order my steps in thy word: and let not an iniquity have domonion over me. Psalm 119:133 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theopolis, That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed. Luke 1:3-4 Let all things be done decently and in order. 1 Cori...
