God Keeps A Record Of Every Single Tear

I am what is affectionately called a free and flowing crier. Whether it's happy, sad, scared, or angry, the emotion is probably going to turn into tears. Perhaps my tear duct valve needs to be adjusted, I'm not sure, but I can always tell when it's coming. I'm sure other people can, too.

At the end of every movie, you can bet I'm going to cry - rom-com, action, cartoon - it doesn't matter. If I see someone hurting in real life, I'm definitely crying and praying over them. And don't get me started on book endings. Even if everything is wrapped with a bow like Hallmark, I'm grabbing Kleenex.

I used to think that tears were a problem. Like I couldn't control my own emotions so I must be less-than somehow. But once I got saved and dug into Scripture, I realized that being made in God's image, tears of all kinds are beautiful and special.

That's why this necklace is one of the most precious pieces of jewelry I own, next to my wedding ring. It's based on Psalm 56:8: Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? The charm is a bottle with a single teardrop inside, right where God put it. It's a beautiful reminder that when we cry, we're never crying alone.

The Scriptures are full of references to believers who cried rivers of tears, each for different and powerful reasons. Hannah, David, Jeremiah, countless people who came to see Jesus, and even Jesus Himself. If you are also a full-blown crier like me, you are in amazing company. Can you see yourself and the importance of your tears in these verses?

Past tears: Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. Psalm 56:8-9

That thing that happened, what that person said or did, the event that did or didn't take place - God saw it all. Your disappointments, your fears, your emotions, your regret that all turned into floods of tears are all recorded in a bottle and a book that He considers precious. Every single one of those teardrops is preserved in His memory because He was right there beside you when they happened. He was the one who comforted you and got you through it so you could be standing here today to talk about it.

Present tears: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. Mark 9:23-24

I don't know what you're going through right this minute, but God knows. I don't know your personal struggles, your concerns, your worries, but I know that God does. Whatever it is that's weighing on your mind and heart and bringing you to tears, I pray that you'll turn them over to Him and leave them there. That's how our unbelief becomes even stronger belief than ever before.

Future tears: For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. Revelation 7:17

This is perhaps my favorite verse regarding tears. There are going to be so many mixed-together tears when we see Jesus face to face, and knowing that God Himself is going to handle them and wipe them away forever is the greatest joy in my life. I can't even begin to comprehend what that moment will be like, but I can tell you that I'm looking forward to it with all my heart. The tears I'm shedding now will be just a blot on one page of His book that I'll be able to thank Him for that day.

The Lord, My Shield And My Buckler

Sometimes verses of Scripture grab ahold of your heart and don't let go. That happened to me several months in a row as I was reading the books of Psalms and Proverbs.  If you don't already, add reading the Proverb that corresponds to the day of the month - 31 Proverbs, 31 days - to your Bible reading schedule. Recovering An Old Card Table And Making It Usable Again

This card table recover project has been on my to-do list for months. I've been using it as my workspace in the craft room for quite some time, and it sees a lot of abuse. Here it is now, with a neutral cover on it so I can take better pictures for my tutorials. There were dents and dings in the old blue covering from metal tools. And yes, I've used my embossing heat tool on it several times, leaving pretty good scars. The padding underneath the blue cover also made it difficult to keep paper crafts flat when adhering them together, so it was time for something new. That's where a simple vinyl tablecloth comes in handy. The process to recover the table is pretty simple, but I learned a couple of lessons the hard way. I share them with you now.
