Big Dog Adventure Day At My Office And The Vet


Our upcoming blog and email at work are about how dog-friendly our community is, so I absolutely jumped at the chance to bring our two dogs in to get their video and photos taken. The boys had never been to my office before, so it was definitely an adventure kind of day.


Our in-house photographer and digital specialist is absolutely amazing, and he captured our little group in such a sweet way. It was about 90 degrees outside that day, so we worked fast to get them in and out of the heat. Not having been downtown before, they were easily distracted by all the new things, but they were on their best behavior, too.


Diesel is forever my soul dog, and he loved being out and about, even in the heat. He stayed right beside me, did whatever was asked of him, and smiled pretty for the camera. He enjoys wherever he is at the moment, and he took full advantage of checking out the sights of downtown.


Cooper, on the other hand, was a handful. Our puppy was just that, and he had the attention span of a gnat. I adore this picture above all others because it completely captures his personality in one moment. Look at those teefers!


Once we got back inside, they cooled off in the air conditioning, had some cold water, then got up to explore the visitor center. Our office is so dog-friendly that I would be willing to puppy sit while visitors went around downtown. That friendly! The boys smelled everything, investigated all the new things, and enjoyed meeting a couple of new people.


The timing of our adventure was perfect because we were on our way to the vet's office. It was time for both boys' yearly exam and a special look at their ears. Diesel is prone to ear infections and Cooper's been tossing his head a little, so we made sure that was on the agenda.


Diesel is the best big brother ever. He stayed right on top of Cooper everywhere we went, from the lobby to the exam room and the hallways in between. Cooper had to go to the back for a minute to get a blood draw, and you'd have thought they stole him away - Diesel was so offended! He calmed down after they brought Cooper back, but he sang the song of his pit bull people the entire time he couldn't see him.


And as soon as they came home and cooled off, they crashed. Literally crashed. They were sitting one minute, and the next they were on their sides and Diesel was snoring. Cooper barely moved his mouth away from the toy he was chewing on before he was sound asleep. It was a big, hot, exciting day in our world, and we accomplished everything we set out to do. Nap included.

The Lord, My Shield And My Buckler

Sometimes verses of Scripture grab ahold of your heart and don't let go. That happened to me several months in a row as I was reading the books of Psalms and Proverbs.  If you don't already, add reading the Proverb that corresponds to the day of the month - 31 Proverbs, 31 days - to your Bible reading schedule. Similarly, if you read five Psalms every day, you'll read the entire book each month. On the first of the month, Psalm 5:11-12 stood out like they were under a spotlight. Repeatedly. Recovering An Old Card Table And Making It Usable Again

This card table recover project has been on my to-do list for months. I've been using it as my workspace in the craft room for quite some time, and it sees a lot of abuse. Here it is now, with a neutral cover on it so I can take better pictures for my tutorials. There were dents and dings in the old blue covering from metal tools. And yes, I've used my embossing heat tool on it several times, leaving pretty good scars. The padding underneath the blue cover also made it difficult to keep paper crafts flat when adhering them together, so it was time for something new. That's where a simple vinyl tablecloth comes in handy. The process to recover the table is pretty simple, but I learned a couple of lessons the hard way. I share them with you now.
