The Best Way To Tie Stretch Bracelets So They Don't Come Loose
I hope that your church or group participates in the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child shoebox outreach. You fill a box with gifts plus hygiene and school supplies, and Samaritan's Purse will send them - along with programs and tracts on the gospel - to countries around the world. I found a random bag of beads in our youth group closet last week, so I thought bracelets would be an amazing addition to some shoeboxes.
Beads are not my specialty, though I've made a few things over the years, so I had to search how to tie them off so they stay. Using the stretch cord already in the bag, this was the best way I've found. I cut about 18 inches of cord and doubled it over.
Then I strung my beads. We used this assorted bag to make conches for our bandanas in Summer Celebration with the youth.
Now I'm going to make this as possible because it really is. One loose end of the cord goes through the loop once it's pushed all the way to the end of the beads.
Then I pulled it fairly tightly, so it stretches but not a lot, and tied my first knot.
It ends up being triple-knotted, but the cord is thin so it's not too bulky.
After clipping the ends to about half an inch long, I tucked them into the beads on either side so they'd be hidden.
Have you ever questioned if something is too easy? Me neither. This was so much fun, and I'm determined to see as many of the beads as I can so some little girls who've never had jewelry before can have a sweet surprise in a few months!
