My Brand-New July And 4th Of July Planner Layouts


It's my first week in my new planner! If you didn't see my recent post on finding the perfect planner for your new year, check it out here. It feels like a fresh, new beginning, and I can't wait to show you how that beginning is going so far. I'm loving it!


To make my first monthly spread one for the books (get it?), I pulled out everything I could find that was red, white, blue, had flags, or had stars. You never know exactly what you've got until you empty your drawers and bags and pile it all up on the table. Yep, that's exactly what I did. And boy, did I find some cool stuff!


I laid it out in a random stamp/thrown around like confetti style, which I adore. The large Lady Liberty sticker in the bottom is one I found at the Veteran's Home gift shop in Marshalltown, and I love it right there in that bottom open space. I use these monthly spreads to keep track of my blog posts, so there's plenty of room for that on each day.


The weekly pages in my new planner are completely different than last year's. Instead of wide, open boxes for each day, there are two sets of lines. The one on the left is for appointments and the one on the right for a to-do list. It's a really neat design and one of the many reasons I chose this particular planner for the year.


For this week, I combed through that patriotic collection again and found several sets that I could mix and match. From there I scattered stars and fireworks all over the place to celebrate the 250th 4th of July. I love the way it looks, and I can't wait to see it in action in its inaugural week.


My prayer for the week is that the visitor center will be full of guests that I can help, colleagues and friends I can support, and time with Danny before he starts his nine-day work week. God has been blessing me in some very unexpected ways recently, and I'm looking forward to seeing what He has planned for this week of celebration. Have a wonderful Independence Day Week!

The Lord, My Shield And My Buckler

Sometimes verses of Scripture grab ahold of your heart and don't let go. That happened to me several months in a row as I was reading the books of Psalms and Proverbs.  If you don't already, add reading the Proverb that corresponds to the day of the month - 31 Proverbs, 31 days - to your Bible reading schedule. Similarly, if you read five Psalms every day, you'll read the entire book each month. On the first of the month, Psalm 5:11-12 stood out like they were under a spotlight. Repeatedly. Recovering An Old Card Table And Making It Usable Again

This card table recover project has been on my to-do list for months. I've been using it as my workspace in the craft room for quite some time, and it sees a lot of abuse. Here it is now, with a neutral cover on it so I can take better pictures for my tutorials. There were dents and dings in the old blue covering from metal tools. And yes, I've used my embossing heat tool on it several times, leaving pretty good scars. The padding underneath the blue cover also made it difficult to keep paper crafts flat when adhering them together, so it was time for something new. That's where a simple vinyl tablecloth comes in handy. The process to recover the table is pretty simple, but I learned a couple of lessons the hard way. I share them with you now.
