Ready For Departure

Going through the airport is never a speedy adventure. I adore the butterflies that come with the excitement of travel, but not necessarily the wait at the security gate. I thoroughly enjoy people-watching while waiting for my flight, but not standing in line listening to people complain about airline service.

When I saw this sign at the airport this weekend, I had to smile at the Lord's wisdom. Please notice that the arrow is pointing up. Isn't that where our departure will truly take place?

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

Our departure is coming soon, and we won't have to stand in line for a boarding pass. We won't have to run to the next concourse, be jostled in the throng of people or worry that we won't make the connection.

And we won't even have to take off our shoes for the security screening. Oh no, because we've already gone through the screening process! When God looks at us and sees the blood of Christ, we've already been approved for the catching-up of His children. There will be no waiting, wondering or wishing for this departure.

What a day that will be when our departure begins in the twinkling of an eye. Are you prepared?
