Change Can Be As Beautiful As The Seasons
Normally we think about change and new beginnings and associate them with spring. New life, new growth, newness all around us. But spring isn't the only season that can be so beautiful it takes our breath away.
Fall is proof that change can be beautiful.
Autumn is a season of transition in so many ways - the end of summer, beginning of the school year, job changes, Bible studies, youth group. And, of course, the changing leaves showing off their magnificent colors. Summer was amazing, but here comes fall!
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19
Isaiah was writing in a time when captivity in Babylon was the only thing on their minds. The people were looking back on the old days when they were free with longing and regret, which is completely understandable. But through the prophet, God told them that they didn't need to dwell on those old days because He was working on something every bigger and better and more glorious for them than they could ever imagine.
And to people living in suffering, nothing could have encouraged them more.
Perhaps you're going through a difficult season and are ready for change.
Maybe you've grown complacent where you are and a promised change is on the way.
Or you're excited about changes that you've been planning for over the past few weeks or months.
Fall is the perfect time to put the former things behind and look forward to the future new thing that God has planned for you. Isaiah said it will pop out, you'll recognize that it's from the Lord, and you'll see the way before you that He wants you to walk. How exciting are those possibilities?!?
May this autumn find you changing in beautiful ways and grateful for each blessing God places in your path.
